"This sculpture is composed of a dozen black vinyl records which are thermally moulded and piled up on a white pedestal. All these records are ready made except on top of the structure carved with an original soundtrack of the movie Berlin Babylon (Hubertus Siegert, 2009). Even if Gregor Hildebrandt often uses recorded supports (magnetics tapes or vinyl records) but no sound is produced. Here, it’s the eye of the observer, taken by the light waves reflections of these blacks mirrors composed of undulating grooves, which somehow becomes the dynamic although silent read head …”
